Eight films, one taxi uncle

A trailer narrated by a man doing an enormous movie-trailer voice who cannot keep it up for more than one sentence, and seven shorter films on the parts of the game the trailer only gets one shot for. Every one is cut from real gameplay, with the game's own music and Singlish voice.

Nothing on this page loads anything from YouTube until you press play on it. Full transcripts are under every film, so you can read one without watching it. There are vertical Shorts on the channel too, but only the full-length films are collected here. The ten songs written for the game are out as well, and they have their own page: the soundtrack.

Main trailer

About 85 seconds. Everything the game is, in order.

Cold-open brake-check, the certificate of entitlement that starts the whole plot, a hazard montage, DEXTER on the Marina Bay circuit, the Causeway with the prices turning to ringgit, and five bonus modes.

  • Trailer voice: "In a city where every driver has gone completely siao."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Eh, you also ah. Never signal, then want to horn me."
  • Trailer voice: "One car. One night. One certificate of entitlement, expiring at midnight."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Old friend, last drive already. Don't cry ah. Later I also cry."
  • Trailer voice: "They told you the roads would be safe tonight. They lied to you."
  • Taxi Uncle: "PMD, bus, flood, monkey, wild boar. Everybody also want YOUR lane."
  • Taxi Uncle: "WILD BOAR! Aiyoh, that is one big dent."
  • DEXTER: "I have 12,047 trips. You have ONE life."
  • Trailer voice: "And then, somehow, it gets worse. It gets Johor."
  • Road Bully: "You honk at ME ah?? In MY country??"
  • Taxi Uncle: "ALAMAK. Pothole. Rim check: RM400."
  • Trailer voice: "Five bonus modes. Because merely surviving was not humiliating enough."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Now you also must deliver teh tarik. Spill one drop, I judge you for life."
  • Taxi Uncle: "And this one, you pump the pedal until the passenger turn green. Save petrol, they say."
  • Trailer voice: "One island. One car. Zero chill."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Free one lah. Browser can play, no need to download. Go try, see you survive or not."

The drive home: 28 levels

About a minute. Actual gameplay, no menus.

The Yishun heartlands, an Orchard Road downpour, the Mandai wildlife, the KPE tunnel and the Causeway into Johor where every price flips to ringgit. Almost every level started as a real news story, which is what the real story page is for. The full level list is on the campaign page.

  • Trailer voice: "Twenty eight nights. One car. One island that has completely lost the plot."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Bus, lorry, PMD, uncle on bicycle. Everybody want the same one metre of road."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Rain, haze, flood. Even the weather here got its own personality."
  • Taxi Uncle: "WILD BOAR! Aiyoh, that is one big dent."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Three chapters. Heartlands, then town side, then across the bridge into Johor."
  • Taxi Uncle: "All twenty eight, free in your browser. No download, no account, just drive."

The three boss fights

About a minute. All three, and how to actually beat them.

DEXTER, a ride-hailing driver with 12,047 trips and a fleet of identical Vezels. The Karang Guni King, forty years of collecting other people's cast-offs and your car is next. THE KLON, your own car cloned in Johor with better paperwork than you have. Three phases each: plain bumps do nothing, you have to hold boost and ram.

  • Trailer voice: "Three of them. Each one wants your car for a different reason."
  • DEXTER: "I have 12,047 trips. You have ONE life."
  • Karang Guni King: "Your COE dead already — legally you are SCRAP!"
  • THE KLON: "Chassis number? MY chassis number now."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Three phases each. Bumping him is useless. You must hold boost and RAM."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Three bosses, free, in your browser. Go and settle them one by one."

All five bonus modes

About 55 seconds. Five more ways to suffer.

Tailgate Champion pays you to ride the bumper in front. Lane Splitting narrows the road to your wing mirrors. PMD Grand Prix races the slowest vehicle on the island. Teh Tarik Run rewards driving smoothly, and Mabuk Express scores you on how carsick the back seat gets. Each has its own leaderboard. All five are explained on the bonus modes page.

  • Trailer voice: "Surviving the traffic was not enough. So there are five more ways to suffer."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Tailgate Champion. Closer you follow, more points. What can go wrong, right?"
  • Taxi Uncle: "PMD Grand Prix. Twenty five kilometre per hour of pure adrenaline."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Mabuk Express. Pump the pedal, cook the passenger. Save petrol, they claim."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Every mode got its own board. Your name on top, or your name nowhere."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Five modes, all free, all in the browser. Pick your poison lah."

The garage

About 45 seconds. Cars, paints, horns, and no image files.

Rides that handle differently, paint jobs in kopi brown and gold bar, and a lion horn that clears the whole lane by itself. Coins come from driving well and leave immediately on driving badly with better paintwork. Every panel, badge and icon in here is drawn at runtime: more on the real story page.

  • Trailer voice: "Every driver believes his car is special. Here, you can make it worse."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Few rides, each one handle different. Pick whichever suit your nonsense."
  • Taxi Uncle: "And the horns. Stock, siren, or the lion, which clear the whole lane by itself."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Coins from driving well. Spent immediately on driving badly, but in style."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Not one image file in this garage. Every panel drawn by code. Free to play."

The daily challenge

About 45 seconds. A new one every single day.

One level, one modifier, the same for everybody, rotating every day: PSI 400 haze, rush hour, and on Sundays two modifiers stacked at once. Clear it and the streak goes up. Miss a day and it goes back to zero. The daily duel sends the same challenge to your friends, so the excuses afterwards are at least comparable.
Read the transcript
  • Trailer voice: "Every day, the island invents a new way to ruin your commute."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Today got haze. Tomorrow maybe rush hour, maybe worse. Never the same twice."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Clear it, streak go up. Miss one day, straight back to zero. Very cruel, I know."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Same challenge for your kaki also. Same road, same nonsense, no excuses after."
  • Taxi Uncle: "One new challenge every single day, free. Come back tomorrow ah."

Kaki Duels, trophies and the licence

About 45 seconds. Competing without anybody making an account.

Finish a run and the game draws you a brag card with a challenge link baked into it. Send it, and your friend drives the exact same level trying to beat your score, with no account and no app on either end. Plus 46 trophies, a win-loss record, and a driver licence card that looks far more official than it has any right to. How it works is in the how to play guide.
Read the transcript
  • Trailer voice: "Anybody can drive home. Not everybody can prove it."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Kaki Duels. You send your kaki one link, he try to beat your score. That is the whole thing."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Finish, and the game draw you a brag card. Send it to him. Let him suffer."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Forty six trophies. Some for skill, some purely for being kiasu."
  • Taxi Uncle: "And your own driver licence, with your rank on it. Very official looking. Not official at all."
  • Taxi Uncle: "No account, no download. Send the link, see who is more siao."

Any screen, no download

About 45 seconds. Desktop, phone, and the card that is your account.

The same game runs in a desktop browser and on a phone, with a touch scheme built for it rather than bolted on, and your progress, coins, trophies and rank follow you between them. If you lose the device, the Recovery Licence is a PNG with your account written into the file itself: download it once, keep it, restore from it later.
Read the transcript
  • Trailer voice: "Start on your computer. Finish on the bus. Nothing to install, ever."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Your progress save by itself. Change device, everything still there waiting."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Your licence, your rank, your coins. All of it follow you across."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Lost your phone? Download the recovery card. That card IS your account, so keep it safe."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Same game, any screen, no download. Open the link and go."

Still to come

Two films are cut and finished but not on the channel yet. Transcripts are below, and each one gets its player here the day it goes up.

The Tailgate Trap

About 45 seconds. The one that stops being funny halfway through.

Tailgate Champion looks like a high-score mode. It rewards you for riding the bumper in front, then brake-checks you, then shows you that the gap you could not close was your own reaction time. Read more on the bonus modes page.
Read the transcript
  • Trailer voice: "Introducing the only driving game that rewards you for tailgating."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Closer. Closer! More points! Confirm can one!"
  • Taxi Uncle: "AIYOH! He brake! Can stop in time or not?!"
  • The Examiner: "That gap was not the game being unfair. That was your own reaction time."
  • The Examiner: "2025 was the deadliest year on Singapore roads in a decade: 149 people never made it home."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Next time, leave some space ah. Please. I am asking nicely."

No image files

About 40 seconds. For people who build things.

Every car, building, road texture, interface icon and shareable brag card in this game is drawn in code at runtime. There is no asset pipeline, because there are no assets. More on the real story page.
Read the transcript
  • Trailer voice: "This entire game contains zero image files."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Every car, every building, every little icon. All drawn by code lah."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Even the brag card you send your friends. Drawn the moment you press the button."
  • Trailer voice: "Three point js. Plain JavaScript. No asset pipeline. No download."
  • Taxi Uncle: "Small enough to load before you finish reading this sentence."
